Popular 1980s boy band, New Kids on the Block, will return to Chile after 22 years.
U.S. pop group New Kids on the Block will return to Chile for the first time since 1990 with a June 20 concert at the Movistar Arena, officials announced this week.
They appeared at an Amnesty International event called Desde Chile and created hysteria and euphoria at a time when the country was unaccustomed to such scenes only witnessed with Latin stars of the 1960s and 70s.
All five original members will return for the performance: the main singer, Jordan Knight (41), his brother Jonathan (43), Donnie Wahlberg, brother of actor Mark Wahlberg, (42), Joey McIntyre (39), and Danny Wood (42).
The quintet from Boston appeared on the scene in the late 1980s backed by music producer Maurice Starr and had top 100 hits such as “You got it (the right stuff)” and “Step by Step,” the latter reaching No. 1 on the Hot 100 Billboard charts in 1990.
