90’s bands and where they are now: NKOTB

American boy band New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) has been around for at least two decades!

Assembled in 1984, NKOTB currently consists of brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood.

The group enjoyed success in the late 1980s and early 1990s, bagging two American Music Awards in 1990 for Favourite Pop/Rock Band, Duo or Group and Favourite Pop/Rock Album.

NKOTB later disbanded in 1994, with most of the group members starting families and venturing into other avenues. Despite several attempts to get the group back together, none worked out, until 2008.

NKOTB reunited secretly and began recording new materials in 2007. The group released The Block — their first studio album in 14 years — the next year and embarked on a concert tour.

Last year, it was announced that NKOTB and Backstreet Boys (known as NKOTBSB collectively) will tour together in the summer of 2011. Currently, NKOTBSB is set to tour the UK, Europe and Australia in 2012.
