Boy bands are making a comeback! British groups like One Direction and the Wanted are conquering the airwaves and hearts of teenage girls all over the U.K., and now the U.S.
With all of the hype surrounding One Direction, the Wanted, Nickelodeon stars Big Time Rush and the impending Jonas Brothers reunion, PopCrush wanted all of the readers to weigh in on their favorite contemporary boy band.
One Direction and the Wanted are really breaking out in the States (they’ve already got millions of girls screaming for them over in the U.K.), with their singles ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ and ‘Glad You Came,’ respectively, achieving Billboard chart success and tons of airplay. Meanwhile, Big Time Rush are dominating with movies, tours and catchy tunes, while N.J. natives the Jonas Brothers are plotting their comeback with a new album in 2012.
While Hanson and Backstreet Boys were at the peak of their success back in the early 2000′s, they are still going strong. Hanson continues to crank out catchy songs like ‘Thinkin’ Bout Somethin’,’ while Backstreet Boys joined forces with ’90s boy band New Kids on the Block to form the touring super group NKOTBSB. C’mon, who doesn’t want to hear ‘Hangin’ Tough’ and ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)’ all in one sitting?
