They were two of the biggest bands on the planet throughout the 1990s, now New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys are joining forces for a national concert tour.

Dubbed NKOTBSB, the phenomenon will reach Perth on Tuesday May 29 at the Burswood Dome.

With over 200 million albums sold between both bands with smash hit after smash hit, these two pop sensations have dominated the music scene for over three decades.

The Backstreet Boys formed in 1993 and while the band was originally a quintet, Kevin Richardson left the band in 2006.

Remaining members Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean and Brian Littrell are recording a new album for release in 2012 to follow up on 2009’s This Is Us.

New Kids on the Block will be returning to Australia for the first time since their tour in 1992 and dissolving the band in 1994.

The group are made up of members Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood, Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight and also briefly featured Mark Wahlberg in the 1980s.

The band were known for their hits including You Got It (The Right Stuff), I’ll Be Loving You (Forever), Hangin’ Tough and Cover Girl.
